Resident Evil Afterlife Images

These aren't that new, but I just wanted to post them because they look good, and if the film does turn out to be a huge disappointment, at least I'll have had the experience of enjoying the possibility of a good film experience through looking at these images.

Spiderman's Love Intrest?

Below is a list of possible actresses to play Spidey's (Andrew Garfield) love interest in the new Untitled Spiderman Reboot (I'm gonna puke). No screen tests have been shot so as it's only readings and meeting that have been conducted, all could change.

It hasn't been confirmed that Mary Jane will be Spidey's love interest and to be honest, I can't imagine any of these girls filling out the role. But, I can see them all being fantastic Felicia Hardy (Blackcat), the reformed cat burglar, part time crime fighter and sometimes love interest of Peter Parker.

CSI: Crime "Tween" Investigation

Justin Bieber can't drink, he can't smoke and he can't buy lotto tickets, but he can be on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation?

Apparently, Justin will play Jason McCann, a troubled teen who is faced with a terrible decision regarding his only brother. A decision that leads him into an explosive confrontation with the CSIs.

Taylor Swift was really, really good on CSI but this, I'm not sure about. No more on this story later.

More on IMDB. Check them out here.

Airbender Happy Meal Toys

THIS IS THE BEST IMAGE I COULD FIND
Upon purchasing a McDonald's today, I discovered that the toys int he Happy Meals are from the film the Last Airbender. If you're a fan of the TV show, you'll see how shit these toys depict it. As if the film didn't do that already. FYI, I got Aang Figure. It's crap!

I just think it's crap that kids are gonna get one of these toys and be lured into wanting to watch the film, then the parents will give into there begging and then M. Night. Shitamalan will profit and probably be aloud to continue working in the movie industry. And all the kids will be sad because they not only have a shit toy, but will have lost their innocence realising the world is a cruel, lying, greedy, time robbing place.

Let Me In on HelpMe.net

I usually love remakes. But when it's an American company cashing in on a world cinema production weeks later I just can't stand it. The money they make belongs to the original.

Overture Films who are remaking the Russian film Let The Right One In to the American film Let Me In have released a viral website helpme.net. On the site, you can solve riddles to unlock new stills from the film.

Check them out below.

Dragon Tattoo Remake Casting

Rooney Mara, AKA Nancy from the 2010 remake of A Nightmare On Elmstreet has been cast as Lisbeth Salander in the American remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Director David Fincher who's name only rings a bell for Alien 3 for me, has also used Rooney in the other film his has in development, The Social Network. I think Lisbeth is such a compelling role. i hope to god that this actress doesn't ruin a character I really like. I'm against America cashing in on successful foreign films, but I'm slowing begining to look forward to this project.

Love & Other Drugs

This film is out November 24th in the states but a UK release date is yet to be set.
I wouldn't usually watch a trailer for this kind of film. It's a very girly film that critics usually hate and movie buffs discard but I decided to watch it because I'm a fan on Anne Hathaway. I probably will never even watch this film, but I just wanted to post the trailer to show how weird Jake Gyllenhaal looks. I never realised what a Douche he was!

Review of a movie poster!

This isn't a new poster. It's just one of my favourites. It's infact the one I have framed on the wall in my house. It might be sad, but to me, posters are just as important as trailers, plus, the good ones, like Scarface or Resevoir Dogs become immortalised. This is Grindhouse.

This is just a fantastic poster. When if first saw the trailer for this double feature, I was in ore. I couldn't believe that two off my all time favourite directors had come together and made two films that were going to link together and show back to back with bookend fake grindhouse trailers. I was so excited. I'm such a huge fan of Rose McGowan and she just looked fantastic. Then, unfortunately it didn't show near me and hardly did anywere in the UK. When it was finally released on DVD, it was as two seperate films. I have them both (obviously) and have watched them back to back on more the one occasion, but it's not the same. A blu ray full feature release is due very soon to which I am very excited.

Dragstrip Girl & Rock All Night Poster
According to Wikipedia Quentin and Robert apparently often used to ahve screanings of back to back films in there houses.During one screening in 2003, Rodriguez noticed that he owned the same double feature movie poster as Tarantino for the 1957 films Dragstrip Girl and Rock All Night Rodriguez asked Tarantino, "I always wanted to do a double feature. Hey, why don't you direct one and I'll do the other?" Tarantino replied, "And we've got to call it Grindhouse!"

Grindhouse is a term used for all the old theatures that used to show exploitation genres, often abck to back.

I just think the poster for Grinshouse is amazing. It's taken all the best parts of the old posters and made up bang up to date. I had a friend ask "why go back. Why not make a modern film." He just didn't undersatnd. This is about showing a new generation what was so great in the past that made movies what they are today. Without these films that made people love teh movies with a passion, todays movies would all be fluff. This posters reminds me of why I love films. Thanks you Quentin and Robert. I'll be looking out for a Dragstrip Girl & Rock All Night Poster too. I'm waiting for Grindhouse 2.

End of August

If you read my Pick of 2010 blog, you'd know I have four films on the list I want to squeeze in at the end of August. I just couldn't decide so I left it up to Rotten Tomatoes. Here is what they say.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World
Fresh Tomatoe 79%
Reviews Counted:109

Fresh:86
Rotten:23
Average Rating:7.4/10
Consensus: Its script may not be as dazzling as its eye-popping visuals, but Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is fast, funny, and inventive.

Salt
Rotton Tomatoe 58%Reviews Counted:166

Fresh:96
Rotten:70
Average Rating:6/10
Consensus: Angelina Jolie gives it her all in the title role, and her seasoned performance is almost enough to save Salt from its predictable and ludicrous plot.

The Human Centipede (First Sequence)
Rotton Tomatoe 47%
Reviews Counted:66

Fresh:31
Rotten:35
Average Rating:5.1/10
Consensus: Grotesque, visceral and hard to (ahem) swallow, this surgical horror doesn't quite earn its stripes because the gross-outs overwhelm and devalue everything else.

Piranha 3D
N/A
(Unreleased)

I seems clear to me that Scott Pilgim is the obvious choice. Then I'll watch Salt and perhaps rent The Human Centipede on DVD in a few months. Piranha is one to watch if I get an extra few quid and nothing to do one weekend.

It's Angelina Jolie, only Saltier?

18 August will see the UK release of four film to which I am looking forward to. The one I am most antisipating is Salt. Angelina Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent on the run suspected of being a Russian spy. I am a fan of allot of Kurt Wimmer's writting work, my favourite probably being the critics least, Ultraviolet which he also directed. I love Angelina in action roles. I thought she was fantastic in Wanted and I'm 50% disappointed that she wont be returning for it's sequel. The other 50% is glad because the character was kinda written out and it would be a crappy return. This film is my Angelina Wanted 2 substitute. Here is the trailer.

Pick of the Week

FEMALE PRISONER
#701: SCORPION
Joshuu 701-gô: Sasori (Japanese Title)
1972

This film is probably one of my favourite Asian cinema movies. I was first introduced to the name Meiko Kaji after purchasing the Kill Bill Vol 1 Soundtrack. The song Shura No Hana which is played during the death of Oren is performed by Meiko for the Lady Snowblood movie in 1973. I was instantly attracted to this song and went to find out that
else Meiko had been involved in. I added the Lady Snowblood movies to my wish list on Amazon and Female Prisoner #701: Scorpion and it's sequels were added to my recommendations as a result. I decided after watching the trailer that I was desperate to watch the film and eventually got bought it as a gift from my other half. We watched the first film the day they arrived and instantly we were hooked.

Nami Matsushima (aka Matsu the Scorpion) (Meiko Kaji) is set up by her lover Sugimi who is a crooked detective. The Yakuza in which he encouraged her in infiltrate brutalise and rape her. After a filed attempt to stab Sugimi, she ends up doing hard time in a prison that is run by sadistic brutal guards. While Matsu is in prison, Sugimi and the Japanese Mafia orchestrate a plan to have her accidentally
die. Little to the assassin inmate know, Matsu desires escape and revenge on Sugimi and all those who associated with her brutalisation.

Female Prisoner #701: Scorpion is probably may favourite in the trilogy.
Female Prisoner # 701: Scorion
Female Convict Scorpion: Jailhouse 41

Female Prisoner #701 Scorpion: Beast Stable
Box set available here on Amazon
I is so clear how a film of this nature directly contributed towards the inspiration of Kill Bill. It's female empowerment. It's gritty and it's such an underrated classic. I think everyone should see this film. She is a woman who refuses to give up and is an inspiration to all. Even after being tied up and beaten by her fellow inmates, being tied, made to sleep on the floor and having hot food poured onto her and being made to all walk naked over poles and up and down clear stairs with the horny guards watching, she still manages to always have one over on them all. Matsu is fantastic and I hope that one day, the movie industry manages to produce something as good as this again someday soon.

Narnia III

I must admit, I am a fan of the series and I'm rather looking forward to his. Not much to say, just check out the trailer.

The Bride will Fight Again in 2014

Most films today are made for money. I guess that's the drive of all the top dogs in the industry. But not many directors seem so passionate about film as Quentin Tarantino. When he makes a film, it's because he loves the genre. He wants to make it to make the audience exprience something that has been forgotton or because he wants to do something new. And it's this dedication that makes his films so coverted. Allot of people say "I can't for that film to come out." I liked Avatar. But I'd never say "I can't wait to see what James Camaron's next film is." I would however say that of Quentin. There are a few rumors in the air at the moment. The Shadow, Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill! and Come Drink With Me to be a few. But the only film that is 100% is Kill Bill Vol 3. And I can't wait. The rumor is that Elle will be a blind samuri style villian. She and Sophie will raise Nikki Bell (Copperhead's daughter) and she'll be trained to take revenge on the woman that Killed her mother. "She deserves her revenge just as much as Beatrix did." Quentin said. I just can't wait.

Drag me to Shaun of the Dead

This information comes from /film who got it from Empire magazine (third hand info, I know, gross).

Edger Wright who directed classic Shaun of the Dead and new film Scott Pilgrim vs the World was originally asked by Sam Raimi to direct Drag Me To Hell. He Apparently said “it was so obviously a Sam Raimi film. I told him as a fan I wanted to see him do it.” I just think that's crazy. What would it have been like it he'd said yes?

Burn!

I wish I didn't like this song. To be fair, it's Rihanna that's really selling this shit. Without her doing the vocals on the corus the rest of the song would be bullshit. Eminem really has become a caricature of himself. I actually kind of like this video. I saw it a moment ago and said to my significant other "oh my God, Rihanna's got red hair" with a laugh but now I like it (even though she looks Kelly Osbournish). Everyone knows about Megan Fox's reputation by now but I'm loving Dominic Monaghan (Merry from LOTR and Charlie from Lost) as a toughish guy. You just know this'll be number one. People always buy into this sort of shit, lol. This is I love The Way You Lie by Eminem feat. Rihanna

The Girl Who Played With Fire

This film if the second in the trilogy based on the posthumously pubished Swedish trilogy. I loved the first film. I definatley going to read the novels. Lisbeth is just such a fantastic protagonist. I don't want to give too much away and that means, if you haven't seen The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, don't watch this trailer.

X-Men: First Class

When I heard about this prequel project, I was initially alittle nervous. X-Men is no doubt my favourite Marvel franchise and I hate to see it done badly. I really enjoyed the X-Men movie spin off/prequel X-Men Origins: Wolverine but parts of it were asif the team hadn;t really researched the whole X-Men universe properly. But now that newcommer director Matthew Vaughn (Stardust, Kickass) is helming the project, I'm allot more hopeful. I'm not a huge fan of Matthew but I do know that he's recieving huge aclaim from critic and I know his reputation.

I'm also looking forward to seeing new characters to the silver screan from the comic pages like:
Emma Frost
Banshee
Havok
Darwin
Aswell as younger versions of recuring characters.

I really can't wait to hear more about this project and you can rest assure I'll be posting about it on here as soon as I do.

Burlesque

Dear Christina Aguilera.
Your rival Britney Spears did her movie debut eight years ago with Crossroads. A satisfactory chick-flick. But her's was an indieish concept that appealed to her musical fanbase. But your fanbase have already seen Burlesque. They saw it when they watched Save The Last Dance, Step Up, Step Up 2, Honey, Make It Happen, Shall We Dance, Chicago, Nine, Moulin Rouge,  and perhaps even Bring It On. I think you should concider yourself lucky to have landed a role in such a high end production. Everyone in the industry hates you. You spend you time dissing Lady Gaga (who you unknowingly model yourself on), Britney Spears, Beyonce and all the other leader in the game. That's not how they got to where thay are and that's not how you'll get there either. Infact, aftet the lack of success of bionic, I'd say this film is your last shot as success...

A Blow Made Without Warning.

I love Zack Snyder's work. 300 and Watchmen were amazing. His style of slow motion fight sequences takes it to a new level. Snyder began initial work on this production in 2007 and was was put on hold to make Watchmen. Most of the production team for Watchmen aworked on this project too. Snyder describes the style of the film as "Alice in Wonderland with Machine Guns." The famale ensemble cast includes High School Musical's Vanessa Hudgens which is the only aspect of the project that puts me off. But that was disolved after the buzz from this years Comic-Con. Here's the trailer and here's a quote from Zack.

"A while ago I had written a script for myself and there was a sequence in it that made me think, 'How can I make a film that can have action sequences in it that aren't limited by the physical realities that normal people are limited by, but still have the story make sense so it's not, and I don't mean to be mean, like a bulls--t thing like Ultraviolet or something like that... It's as crazy as anything else that I have ever done. It's a movie that nobody can get made with the ending that it has and the subject matter."

New I Spit On Your Grave trailer

After the controvesy of 1978's original version (Day of the Woman) that was initially banned and the popularity of female revenge films like Kill Bill, I was sure it wouldn't be long before a remake of I Spit On Your Grave came along. Saying that, I haven't actually seen the original as my Mother banned me from watching it from a very early age. Now almost 24 and having grown up knowing about the initial inpact of the film I think it's time I watched the original. My deadline to watch it... well, the UK has no release date for the remake, so... whenever. Keep tuned.

Here is the original's trailer.

Here is the new trailer.
